BSET Peripheral Vascular Course 2018

This innovative two-day course will provide extensive hands-on practical training in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease aimed at senior vascular trainees and new consultants.  Attendees will be mentored by senior members of BSET and key industry personnel.

This new innovative two-day course will provide extensive hands-on practical training in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease, aimed at senior vascular trainees and new consultants.  Attendees will be mentored by senior members of BSET and key industry personnel.

 

The course will feature four half day sessions in the following:

 

Session 1: The endovascular management of infrainguinal lower limb PAD         

  • What is the evidence for endovascular management of infrainguinal disease
  • Stenting the SFA – is this the solution?
  • Simulation based practice

 

Session 2: Novel concepts in the management of venous disease

  • Contemporary management of deep venous disease
  • What is the current evidence for treating superficial venous disease
  • What options are available for treating superficial venous reflux
  • Setting up a comprehensive venous practice

 

Session 3: Pathways of care in the management of patients with a suprainguinal atherosclerotic disease

  • The evidence for the endovascular management of iliac artery atherosclerotic disease
  • The role of the covered stents and stent grafting in the management of complex aortoiliac disease

 

Session 4: Carotid stenting – pre-, peri and post operative management including the role of percutaneous closure devices

  • What is the current evidence for carotid stenting
  • How to perform a carotid stent
  • Percutaneous closure devices – what to use, when and how to do it.

 

Session 5: Complex open aortic repair (to include open aortic repair simulation)

  • Explantation of aortic stent grafts
  • The open rupture – how I do it – tips and tricks.
  • Open AAA repair – simulation models

The registration fee for the two day course is £375.  This includes the cost of overnight accommodation on Thursday 15th March, and dinner.

Places are limited to 20 and are available on a first-come first-served basis.

From the North:

Leave the M5 at Junction 14. Follow the B4509 towards Wotton. On the B4509, go up the hill and take the first right into Tortworth road. After half a mile, the hotel is on the right hand side up a long drive.

From the South:

Leave M5 at junction 14, signposted to Dursley. At the T junction turn right onto the B4509 and follow directions above.

Bristol Airport is a 40 minute drive from De Vere Tortworth Estate via the M5. A typical taxi fare is £30.
